It takes an army…

I was on a phone meeting the other evening and someone mentioned "it takes an army." I never really thought of my OA program that way. At work I have a team which could be considered my army and each one of us is an integral part to getting the job done. It takes each of us doing our part to get through each day, working as a team to accomplish our goals. We are all valuable members of this army. So, I started thinking about program and how it takes an army as well. The key point for me is that I can't do this alone, I have to be surrounded by my sponsor, my sponsees and my OA buddies to tackle the battle. Isolation is never the answer and only adds to my battle. Other parts of my OA army include the steps and the tools which can equate to my artillery that my army uses. I need each and every person I'm connected with, all the steps and all the tools. It's important for me to work the steps each and every day, rely on others for help and to use each tool in some form or fashion each day as well.

"We found that God does not make too hard terms with those who seek Him. To us, the Realm of Spirit is broad, roomy, all inclusive; never exclusive or forbidding to those who earnestly seek. It is open, we believe, to all men." We Agnostics p. 46 of the Big Book

I grew up knowing of God, believing in a God but not certain I could fully trust God. Would God always be there for me? And what if someone else has something more important for God to deal with? What if *I* wasn't important enough? Today I know that God is accepting of me, loves me for me, and is always there for me; and my stuff is always important to him no matter what. I can turn to God for during the most troubling times and I can turn to God for something small and simple. God doesn't have a requirement that I must meet for him to be concerned about me and want to help me. I can turn to God at any time for any thing. I have learned that turning to God is my best choice, my only choice in working this program. The burden is lifted so many times when I just turn to God and say "here take this" as I can can do nothing about it right now except obsess and worry over it. My time is better spent than obsessing and worrying these days.
